Past and Present THE EARLY YEARS Wyncote Academy is a private high school in Montgomery County PA, located in a beautiful turn-of-the-century manor house. Our building began its life in the early 1920's. Seated on 10 acres, the property was quite a showplace. It remained a private family residence, owned by the Bush family, until the 1950's , when the property was sold to the Mormon church. For the next fifteen years, it was used as a church facility. In the late 1960's, Wordsworth Academy purchased the property and used it as their Upper School. In 1973, it officially became Wyncote Academy. With success
soon came growing pains. Faced with a population of 97 students, the decision
was made to expand in 1986. And so an addition, designed by Harry Kale,
was soon built. The addition offered two new classrooms, a brand new office
area, and what would soon become one of the best art studios in the region.
Three years later, the expansion continued as the new
Middle School facility
was renovated and opened in 1989.
