Technology Center
The Wyncote Academy Technology Center is a vital part of our education curriculum. Wyncote firmly believes that teachers are more than just lecturers or dispensers of information; they are facilitators who lead their classes in personal explorations of the world around them. The Technology Center allows teachers to offer hands-on applications and explorations for students, at their own pace.
The Technology Center is equipped with fifteen state of the art networked computers. All workstations have DSL Internet connections, which allow students instant high-speed access to the World Wide Web. In addition to the PC's, the Technology Center is fitted with three printers, two scanners, and a multimedia projector. Digital cameras are also available for student use.
The Technology Center allows teachers to supplement the traditional, lecture-based curriculum with computer-based activities and multimedia presentations. Students across all grade levels are taught basic word processing skills, information retrieval methods, and presentation applications such as PowerPoint. Students are provided with personal service accounts, monitored regularly by the faculty, that are accessible from their homes as well as from school.
The Technology Center not only allows students to work at their own pace, but also enables teachers to provide greater one-on-one assistance.
