Wyncote Academy goes a step beyond other alternative education high schools by offering the best of all worlds. While the Web site can give you hints of our lives at Wyncote, you need to visit to feel the special quality of our school.

Most parents are attracted by our reputation from word of mouth reports or the Philadelphia Magazine articles. Others are guided to us by professional educators or counselors.

When visiting, parents will meet with our qualified and experienced faculty, who are chosen for their ease of relating to students and their stature as role models as well as their academic credentials. Parents will learn about our curriculum, carefully crafted to meet the skills and talents of each child. The structure, which stresses organization and responsibility will be explained (weekly progress reports are an important part of this). Small classes and a nurturing environment encourage exploration and self-motivation. Our goal is to prepare the whole child for success in the future, most for college, some for less traditional learning paths.

As a visiting student, you will quickly sense the friendly, informal atmosphere as you meet teachers and observe classes. Our small class size encourages student participation, questioning, and allows teachers to offer extra help. Students here are accepted for themselves and given opportunities to follow special interests, develop latent talent in sports, art, music and study of the environment.
